NORTHUMBERLAND - SUN Home Health and Hospice held its 18th annual Tree of Love tree lighting ceremony in December. The event, held in the banquet room at Front Street Station, featured a welcome by Deb Klinger, Director of Hospice Services. Klinger spoke of the importance of remembering those special individuals who are no longer with us; celebrating their life. Readings of “Winter’s Gift” was offered by Annette Miller, Hospice Care Center Coordinator, and “Story of the Christmas Tree” by Valerie Snyder, Hospice Nurse.

The King’s Ringers bell choir from Christ’s United Methodist Church in Northumberland, led by Jane McHenry, provided the special music for the evening. Violin accompaniment, during a time of remembrance and the tree lighting, was provided by Heidi Richardella from Lewisburg.

Each year the family of a hospice patient is asked to light the tree. This year it was the son and daughter-in-law of Tedd Skotedis.

The Tree of Love has raised more than $350,000 since 1990 to benefit SUN Home Hospice and the Special Care Team. This year’s goal is $16,500.
