Lewistown Tree of Love Ceremony Planned
November 2009
LEWISTOWN - SUN Home Health Services has scheduled its annual Tree of Love tree lighting ceremony for Thursday, December 3rd. This year’s event will be held in conjunction with the Festival of Ice. The ceremony will take place at 6:00 p.m. in the area between Wilson’s Jewelry and the Bank. The proceeds from this event benefit SUN Home Hospice and the Special Care Team. Established in 1981, SUN Home Hospice has served thousands of patients and their families in Central Pennsylvania.
SUN Home Hospice staff members care for individuals with life-limiting illnesses. The Hospice team at SUN Home has the compassion and specialized training needed to help patients and their families cope with the many challenges that come when faced with a life-limiting illness. Bereavement services are made available to the patients’ families and a grief support group is open to the community. SUN Home also offers a Special Care Team that assists patients facing complex illnesses that are seeking treatment or for those not ready for hospice care.
Community members are invited to place a light on SUN Home’s Tree of Love in honor of or in memory of the special people in their lives -- past and present. Families or individuals so honored will receive an announcement by mail that a light has been sponsored in their name. Since 1990 over $350,000 has been raised through the Tree of Love and this year’s goal is $16,500.
The public is invited to attend the tree lighting ceremony during the Festival of Ice on December 3rd. The program will include a short ceremony immediately preceding the tree lighting.
